OverComingStress

In this fast paced society, there are many people stressed out. People are busy being busy and meeting deadlines, rushing to get places, caring for others, working, cooking and the list goes on and on.

Stress, if not addressed, can lead to relationship issues, unhealthy habits, mental instability and much more. So, what can be done to overcome stress? Here are a few tips that you can use to overcome stress or at least reduce your stress:

Reach Out-this is just merely talking to someone about your stress. Talking about your stress to someone you trust or a complete stranger can be therapeutic. It can really help with releasing the pressure the stress is causing you.

Get Moving-yep, here we go...I have to add this because it really will make a difference. Doing some type of physical activity will help reduce the cortisol levels in your body. Cortisol is known as the stress hormone; too much of it can be dangerous for the body.

Simply dancing, taking a brisk walk, doing yard work, weight lifting, or whatever you enjoy that's a physical activity can be done to help you overcome stress. About 20-30 minutes a few times a week minimum is a good start.

Go Deep-do you know that most people don't realize the health benefits of deep breathing? There are studies that have been conducted that prove deep breathing helps when dealing with stress. Try it and see for yourself next time you are feeling stressed.

Meditate-meditation is powerful! If you are late to using this practice, I highly suggest you

start incorporating it into your daily routine. Meditation is a practice where an a person uses a technique such as mindfulness in order to train attention and awareness, and achieve mental clarity and emotional calmness. Check out this video https://youtu.be/ayefe4XWCZdg

Clean Up-your diet. Eating fruits and vegetables will help you add more good nutrients to your body and help reduce high cortisol levels like we talked out. Meat and diary products can cause inflammation in your body, so try to limit it if possible. Do not try and go "cold turkey" in the beginning because that will add to your stress, just start out by eliminating one thing and then go from there. Also, I would suggest stop eating sugar period...it's addictive and can cause many health issues.

Laugh-its been said that laughter is good for the soul. I believe it because if a person is stressed and someone makes them laugh or they see something funny, it makes them feel better. The laughter will take their mind off the issue for that moment which is very helpful.

Control Factors-by this I mean control the things that are causing the stress if possible, such as eliminate circumstances, people, things and etc. For example, if you are constantly feeling stressed when interacting with a particular person, stop interacting with them. If you are stressed out with bills, cut your spending in other areas like eating out daily and use that extra money towards the bills. If you are unhappy about your appearance, do something about it. If you are in an unhealthy relationship, start working on an escape plan. :)

I hope these help. Goodnight y'all
